Catering

We will eat our breakfast and lunch at the cafeteria "Mensa Central". The cost of meals is included in the registration fee, so you do not need to pay for food on site. There will be at least one vegan option available every day. Mensa Central is also wheelchair accessible.

Unterkunft

We have 96 beds available at the a&o Hostel Stuttgart City. The hostel is only 1.5 kilometers away from the main train station and is well connected to the city center.

Your room is guaranteed to be ready from 3:00 pm onwards. You can check in any time after that – there is no latest check-in deadline. Bed linen is provided by the hostel and should already be in your room. If it's missing, just ask at reception. Please bring your own towel.

Otherwise, you have the options of couch-surfing at a private person's place or finding accommodation yourself.

How to find us

All roads lead to... Stuttgart. Please note: The 78th StuTS takes place at the Campus Stadtmitte in the city center of Stuttgart—which means: Please ignore the S-Bahn station "Universität" and the signposts in Vaihingen. The Campus Stadtmitte is located in the heart of the city, just a 10-minute walk from the main train station, and has ideal connections to public transportation and shopping facilities. You've got the following options for your journey to our wonderful university:

By train

Our main train station Stuttgarter Hauptbahnhof (oben) is the central hub for local public transportation. It is connected to the German and European rail network via regional, IC, ICE, ÖBB, and TGV trains. A level below ground you can find the underground train station Hauptbahnhof (Arnulf-Klett-Platz), which provides perfect connection in Stuttgart. The second, even lower plane is the S-Bahn station Hauptbahnhof (tief) which you can use to travel around within the city and the surrounding areas.

Since 2010, the main train station is a permanent construction site due to the renovation project Stuttgart 21; the partial opening is scheduled for December 2026. Therefore, please pay attention to the signs and floor markings at the train station to make sure you are on the right way.

This is how you can find us:

At the end of the train tracks, please take the exit on the right side towards Europaviertel.
Follow the floor markings and the majority of the crowd.
After 400 m, at Arnulf-Klett-Platz between the main train station and the hotel Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin: Cross the traffic lights and continue straight ahead into Lautenschlagerstraße.
After 120 m: Turn right into Kronenstraße.
After 130 m: Cross Friedrichstraße at the traffic lights (or alternatively use the pedestrian tunnel) and continue to the left.
After 50 m: Take a right turn into Geschwister-Scholl-Straße.
After 130 m: Cross the pedestrian crossing.

By car

In every city there are stationary and mobile speed cameras, in Stuttgart they can be found even more often—that's why you should stick to the speed limits and traffic rules so you won't have to pay a fee.

The parking garages in close proximity to the campus are expensive, the day's highest rate can be around 10 to 20 euros. We recommend parking your car a little outside the city to save money. At the campus in Vaihingen, it is possible to park for free. From there, you can reach the train station Hauptbahnhof (tief) in 10 minutes by taking the S-Bahn.

In the following, we describe how to find us if you decide to travel by car.

This is how you reach the Campus Stadtmitte coming from the north :

A81 exit Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen onto the B10 towards S.-Zuffenhausen and S.-Zentrum.
After 4.6 km: At the Zuffenhausen intersection, take the left lanes to stay on the B10/B27 towards Esslingen, Stuttgart Zentrum, S.-Feuerbach.
After 2.7 km: Take a right turn towards Heilbronner Straße to stay on the B10/B27.
After 1,3 km: Take the right lanes to continue on the B27.
After 150 m: Keep left to stay on the B27.
After 250 m: Turn half right onto Heilbronner Straße to stay on the B27.
After 3.2 km: Turn right into Geschwister-Scholl-Straße (at the sign to the university and the City Garage)
After 150 m: Turn right onto Keplerstraße.

This way you can reach the Campus Stadtmitte from all other directions :

A8/A81 at the intersection Stuttgart onto the A831 towards S.-Zentrum, S.-Vaihingen.
After 4.5 km: Take a left turn at the interchange Johannesgraben to stay on the B14.
After 2.3 km: Stay on the left lanes at the interchange Wildpark to drive towards the city center.
After 1 km: Keep going straight ahead on Rotenwaldstraße.
After 1.6 km: Take a right turn to stay on Rotenwaldstraße.
After 1.3 km: Turn left onto Schwabstraße.
After 850 m: Turn right onto Rosenbergstraße.
After 1 km: Turn half right onto Hegelstraße, continue straight ahead onto Kriegsbergstraße.
After 400 m: Turn right onto Keplerstraße.

By airplane

As the state capital, Stuttgart has an airport as well (IATA: STR, ICAO: EDDS). It is well conncted to the local public transport with bus, underground, and S-Bahn connections. If you plan to travel to the 78th StuTS by air, we recommend you to take this route from the airport:

Take the S2 (towards Schorndorf) or S3 (towards Backnang). Within about 30 minutes you will have reached your destination.
Get off at the station Hauptbahnhof (tief).
At the last escalator going in the opposite direction to your journey, you will find signs for the Lautenschlagerstraße/Universität exit.
Turn left at the end of the escalator and then left again around the corner of the building.
After 130 m: Cross Friedrichstraße at the traffic lights (or alternatively use the pedestrian tunnel) and continue to the left.
After 50 m: Take a right turn into Geschwister-Scholl-Straße.
After 130 m: Cross the pedestrian crossing.
